New operating System from Microsoft

Apart from Windows Operating System, Microsoft is aiming to develop a new OS codename 'Singularity'. The Singularity is slowly gaining the visibility after the Microsoft research team posted the technical research report to the web.
Singularity is not Windows. Every line of code was written from scratch. Also, Singularity seems to be the largest cross-group project inside of Microsoft involving about 35 researchers. The OS is currently written entirely in a combination of C# programming language, as well as a derivation of C#, which the team is calling 'Sing#'. While the Singularity does rely on C#, it is not making use of Microsoft Common Language Runtime(CLR) or the java virtual machine instead is relaying on Microsoft research developed compiler and run-time environment codename 'Bartok'.
According to Galen Hunt, a senior researcher with Microsoft Research, "We have developed a working kernel, now we can build a lot of components on top of it".
